London Contemporary Dance School (LCDS), based at The Place in central London, is one of Europe's leading conservatoires for contemporary dance. Founded in 1966, the school provides world-class vocational training for dancers, choreographers, educators, and researchers. Degrees are validated by the University of the Arts London (UAL), and students train in one of the UK's most innovative dance centres.

History

Founded in 1966 by Robin Howard to train dancers for the London Contemporary Dance Theatre. Moved to The Place in 1969, where it remains today. Began offering a BA (Hons) in Contemporary Dance in 1982. Since 2021, degrees have been validated by the University of the Arts London (UAL). LCDS is internationally recognized as one of the world's leading contemporary dance institutions.
