Born in Bucharest, Andra began studying ballet at the age of 4 and trained at Liceul de Coregrafie “Floria Capsali”. During her training years she earned multiple national and international awards, including top prizes at the Oleg Danovsky International Ballet Competition. She joined the Romanian National Opera Ballet Company in 2002, becoming a Principal Dancer in 2007. Throughout her distinguished career, Andra has performed leading roles in the great classical ballets including Aurora (The Sleeping Beauty), Kitri (Don Quixote), Manon, Raymonda, Lise (La Fille Mal Gardée), and Swanilda (Coppélia), as well as works by Jiří Kylián, George Balanchine, Edward Clug, Renato Zanella, and Carlos Vilan. Her artistry has taken her to international stages across Spain, Italy, Denmark, Greece, and the Netherlands, and she continues to inspire as both performer and ballet mistress for the ballet company of the National Opera Bucharest. A graduate with distinction of both the Lower and Upper Schools of The Royal Ballet School, Paul went on to join The Royal Ballet, where he was later promoted to Senior Soloist, enjoying a distinguished 19-year career with the Company. He has danced iconic roles such as Hans-Peter/The Nutcracker, the Bronze Idol, and the Jester in Cinderella, as well as originated roles in groundbreaking creations by Wayne McGregor, Christopher Wheeldon, Crystal Pite, Hofesh Shechter, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, and Cathy Marston. Today, Paul is a highly respected educator, teaching internationally and at The Royal Ballet School, where he currently serves as Head of Intensives & Talent Identification. ✨ Ballet Winter Camp 2026 ✨ 02-06 January 2026 | Bucharest, Romania Celebrating Romanian excellence in dance, we are excited to welcome Dan Datcu as one of our guest teachers for next year’s intensive winter workshop! In 2024, Dan earned a Master’s degree in Choreography from the renowned Palucca University of Dance in Dresden, Germany. Throughout his career, Dan has received commissions from prestigious institutions such as Slovenian National Ballet, National Theatre Brno, and Mecklenburg State Theatre. His choreographies explore themes connected to the environment and human experience, reflecting a deeply socially engaged artistic vision. In recent years, he has collaborated with emerging talents at the American Dance Festival, Performact in Portugal, MOSA in Belgium, and Palucca University of Dance, creating multidisciplinary works that integrate dance with visual art, architecture, and film for immersive, multi-sensory experiences. Datcu is currently pursuing his own research program at the Palucca University of Dance in Dresden, Germany, where he investigates improvisation methodologies in contemporary dance and explores their possible intersections with pointe work improvisation. 🎟 Register today and join our ever-growing community of passionate young dancers and stellar teachers!
